SHARON TUBE ERW MILL UPGRADES

on April 15, 2021

Through continued investments in technology and automation, Sharon Tube continues to strengthen our ability to provide high quality, heavy wall, Carbon and Alloy tubing to meet your needs.  We are proud to be made in America from exclusively North American Metal Products. Our commitment to the families within our organization and Industries we serve is unwavering.

These investments in our team and technology allow us to keep pace with the growing market needs not only for as welded carbon tubing, but also for high strength, low alloy products. Demand is increasing from the many industries that utilize HSLA tubing for applications that require elevated physical and mechanical properties.

Walking through our Niles, Ohio facility last week and watching one of our mills produce 2.375” OD x .425” wall tubing while ID controlling the weld flash, really struck me as impressive. The skill set demonstrated by our teammates running the plant and equipment they manage is outstanding.

Significant investments have recently been completed on the weld mills in Niles to provide our client-partners with best in class welded tubing in ASTM A513 T1, and ASTM A500 Mechanical.

Our highly skilled operators are assisted in their efforts by Virtual Macro technology on each mill ensuring consistent weld integrity at the critical weld zone. Further down the manufacturing line, our team utilizes Eddy Current and Ultrasonic inline nondestructive tests to further measure the success of the weld. The ability to consistently produce a superior weld allows our clients to form, bend, flatten and manipulate our tubes with confidence.

In the finishing area of our Niles facility, we have installed an automated inline end finishing operation that puts a clean, burr free finish on the end of each tube and provides hex bundling inline. This new cell    ensures consistent, clean faced bundles for efficient storage and auto feeding into cut-offs, bending cells or other further processing. This process improvement provides customers with tightly banded, hex bundles and burr-free ends that make handling and stacking easier and safer.

Our commitment to quality and welding capabilities combined with our Automated Inventory Management (AIM) systems consistently provide our client partners with the product they need, as they need it with JIT service.

We invite you to check out our website to learn more about the ERW product line or reach out directly to our inside or field sales teams who are ready to discuss your specific requirements.
